Mid Ohio Major

I need a safe place to leave my car and trailer near M-O from May 19 to 30. I have to travel to Lafayette IN in between. Any ideas?

Did you ask the track? They may let you park it off in a corner someplace. I know Grattan and GMan would allow you to do that. Reach out to the region (race chair) to find the right person to talk to.

It will interesting to see if the "usual suspects" actually do show up. I know of 5 good F-cars parked for the season or running a very minimal schedule. This will be my only outing of the year as I have no interest in the Runoffs and therefor no motivation to run Majors for less track time and increased expense. I heard a similar story from Aaron Johnson on the Blackhawk thread. I have turned my attention elsewhere, somewhat out of scca.
I've been worried about that. I personally will only be running 2-4 events this year, depending on a lot of things. After five straight years of having the Runoffs somewhat close, and running pretty hard that entire time, I'm looking forward to sort of an off year. Whatever events I do attend, none will be that far of a drive, and I'll use a max of three days of vacation for my entire season. With all my "extra" vacation I'll have this year, including not doing the Runoffs as well, my new wife and I are taking a couple of other trips that we otherwise probably wouldn't be doing. I also haven't once been out in the shop since last years Runoffs because I had to, but only because I wanted to. That being said though, we have also been getting some great work done on the car that we've been wanting to do for a while, but were always too wrapped up in "the now" just to get the car ready for the next event, to be able to try some of this other stuff.

Come 2015 and 2016 though, it'll be back, because hell ya I'm doing Daytona and Mid-Ohio!

I'm trying to get the car sorted for Mid-O and plan on being there. New baby is due in the next couple weeks, but that shouldn't hamper the plans.

Minimal schedule this year as well, 2 or 3 events...unless i can find a sponsor (which im not actively looking for) to front the fuel bill to tow to Laguna.

I'm trying to keep all the two times under 6 hours.

Does anyone know what fuels are available at Mid-Ohio?

From their website it seems like they have nothing over 100 octane.

I prefer Sunoco 112 supreme flavor. If the track doesn't have it, is anyone aware of some place near by that does?

Hmm, if that's true, then it's something new for this year. I've always been able to buy leaded 110 for my car there at the track, and I absolutely know they've had un-leaded 98, and am about 90% sure they've had leaded 112. Might need to put a call into the track for sure. Do the supps for this event say anything about it?

Hey guys - I was just there two weeks ago... Unless the pumps are mislabeled, they do still have 110 leaded but not 112.

I'm doing the same as a lot of you, time to take a break. But I'll be there, only wearing a white shirt and I don't want to have to see any of you during your race. lol

Tried to register yesterday on-line, but go figure, it expected me to have a valid comp license. See what procrastinating on your medical gets you?

Not to worry, I'll be legit in time. Pencil one more into H.

Sadly, we too are running a limited schedule with no plans for the big show at a track where our car would probably do pretty OK.

I registered today.

now I just need to put the car together, get the motorhome and trailer ready.

things may change for me. I'm trying to hunt down my old single axle trailer...you never know

Jack Baumgartner has offered to store my car for the week before the event. I will miss Q1 but if everything works out I'll be out for Q2 Saturday morning.

The track got back to me. They do have 110 leaded, but do not have 112.

They put me in touch with their fuel supplier and I have inquired about 112 being delivered.

I will post here when I get an answer.

All - I contacted the track and let them know about the website error. Received this reply:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Jason,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We DO have 110 leaded gas. I have changed the typo on our website.

Thanks again,

Steve Beckman

They can do 5 gallon pails (inc the pail) for $62.05 or 54 gallon drums.

PM me if you want the contact information.

For those of you who are use to there being a Thursday evening Twilight Test & Tune prior to this event, hosted by the Mid-Ohio School, know that there isn't one this year. Oddly, it's scheduled for Friday night, at the conclusion of our qualifying day. I looked into it, and apparently it was a scheduling problem with the Mid-Ohio school, and someone else had already reserved the track on Thursday before the mistake was realized. So.....I guess if you feel you need more seat time or to check something out on your car, following qualifying on Friday, additional practice sessions will be available that night through the track.

The field is growing nicely, but we could always use some more! Registration closes a week from today, May 28th, at 6pm.
