Upcoming runoffs location(s)?

Yeah, it's the current 2.439-mile Indy car road course:

I wish we were doing this one, just to be able to haul through at least one banked oval corner, and basically run the same layout the F1 cars did, but I'm not sure that "Turn 6" is even there anymore:

Turn 5,6,7 is still there. Moto GP used it this year.

Wish we'd run it with T5,6,7 on the F1 layout, but the new Turn 7-14 for the Indy GP layout... otherwise, it's just another power track based on what the SVRA guys are saying.

Who said that? Technically speaking, every track is a power track....

My prediction is the same people are up front as were at Daytona, as were at Road America, as were at Topeka...

FYI, for those who want a test weekend, SVRA I think will put a modern Prod car in Group 10 (vintage IMSA, Le Mans type stuff)...

That Porsche video, the guy spent alot of time in first gear. Have fun boys. B-O-R-I-N-G ,Y-A-W-N

The first configuration you published above Kevin is what we ran at the first SVRA event. I have nothing nice to say about it. Ref that configuration turn 5 and 6 are not really turns for our cars and just part of the straightaway you can’t pass on. 12 and 13 are just horrible, don’t create a passing opportunity, and are only there to slow you down. Nothing felt worse than backing off here to follow a slower car around knowing that to do anything else would cost you even more time on the front straight. Seemed like forever.

In reference to the second map I think it would be much better. That turn 6 and 7 complex was still there then as I had a flat on course and watched 2 races from there waiting for a tow. Little prod cars are going to be near terminal velocity no matter which configuration is run but this configuration might give more time to draft and create some Daytona like finishes.

Turn 1 is going to be fun. You’ll be hauling ass into that brake zone, it is a full 90, and narrow. If you don’t fully complete the pass before the turn and go through side by side, the immediate left after, and the 2 rights following will mean that even IF you are ultimately able to complete the inside pass both cars will be slowed down unacceptably. Shaped sortof like the end of the back straight at MidO if they shrunk it down to more SOLO size. There is easy safe runoff for cars that get into the turn 1 brakes zone or get pushed out.

If anyone wants to run the SVRA event in their Runoffs ride I would get entered and accepted very early. The vintage events at Indy are full and closed months before the event. Also slicks send you to group 10 as Bob says which would be just plain scary. Not saying they would do it again but I was allowed to run my FP car at Watkins Glen SVRA, in group 8, this summer, after hand grooving the slicks. I saw Huffaker running the Jensen Healey that way at COTA so ask.

After watching that video, I'm off the Indy program. We were interested in running the actual F1 course.

I'm with mr prather. as a life long race fan (I remember listening to indy on the radio with my dad as a kid), it's hallowed ground and im going no matter what config they run!

+1....for mid packers like me the bucket list trumps the Runoffs location.....and what a coincidence, they're in the same place!

Well the upside for me is thats my sons senior year in college and I'll probably be broke that year as the money tree is already getting pretty picked over. So I won't feel to bad about missing the runoffs as its not a bucket list track for me. See, glass half full.
