Top 10 Runoffs Races

As we are less than a month out from the 2025 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, I’d like to poll the members. What are the top 10 Runoffs races of all time?? Any year, any class. Let’s go!

Pretty sure it was 2005 EP race.
Tom Thrash big wreck on the start.
Crazy restart, Halkias almost won it. Really good race.

1975 HP @ Road Atlanta. Top 5 racing for the win, until Haener and Canfield came together at Turn 11, and Canfield cartwheeled end-over-end in the dirt all the way to 12. Watched from the pits, crewing for Bill Haener.

1st one in my mind is 2007 HP at Topeka. Brian Linn, Tom Feller and Ron Bartell Qualified top 3 with VW of Don Barrack just behind them. Track was a bit off with many including me with poor grip. Tom and Brian had a race of their own, changing positions many times. With Topeka being a tight track, could even watch their race in the mirrors and when they passed me near the end. They raced so hard with each other their tires had grip that most did not have. 2005 GP with Kent Prather win at Mid-Ohio and 2015 HP at Daytona with the very close finish also stand out.

1980 D/Production race. Doc Bundy in the Holbert Porsche 924 versus Dennis Wilson in a Triumph TR-6.
Real back and forth.

Where are all of these cars (that survived)???
Tons of really cool cars.

Why does this video look like it's from the 70s? It's only 20 years ago.

Because it's a VHS recording from an analog TV back in 2005, which was then digitized and compressed. Each time an edit happens, resolution goes down. Unfortunately, it's the best we have with the AV technology available when it was first broadcast/recorded.

I swear that I was buying RunOffs DVD sets from SCCA back then.
Maybe this was a few years too early.

Thanks for putting these up on YT!

I think '06 was the first year of the DVDs, IIRC. Even then, the quality isn't the best. Even the first years at RA in the late 2000's are pretty low quality. It was a lot less noticeable on a 24" tube TV back in the day! Haha.

It seems like videos kept on Youtube for a long time get degraded by Youtube. My in-car videos are almost completely blurry now and weren't before. They're probably saving money on data storage.

Maybe there's a silver lining it what happened to Pitt Race? :D

Runoffs videos in the 80s and 90s were VHS. I have several, including the optional one where you could buy your entire race from all camera angles.

Edit: example,
