Prod Party anyone?

Dayle... Just a thought: Who wouldn't come to the Prod/GTL party if the SMs were running? Do we really care...?

Tuesday is out since the SM race is after dinner and we'd have a low turnout.

Dayle is showing deserved class towards a fun class to watch race and as always a hard ass get's his 2 cents worth. Never been to an SCCA race in the southeast other than the ARRC, but in the CenDiv stands SM draws the most watchers. And no I don't believe it's to view rough driving and crashes.

Kyle, before you start any of your crap, for 6 years my involvement was prepping prod cars for one guy. Before that supported others with prod cars. When I was about to start racing myself I was seriously looking at British stuff. Like I said SERIOUSLY looking. Thought differently and went another direction, my wallet says thank you often.

Two reasons....

1. The vast majority of the worker corps can't attend if we do it Tuesday. And, after all, this is a gig designed to support them. Yes, we could hold the party and raise the money but we'd miss the workers coming by and having a beer with them. They appreciate the effort on our part and we should reward that appreciation.
2. And, to be honest, I'd like to see the SM race and I assume a few others would too. I think the "under the lights" idea is a stroke of genius and should make for a real whiz bang affair. Hopefully more whiz and less bang....but you get the idea.

For the record, Tuesday night is just a 7:00-7:25pm qualifying session for SM, following a "Dinner" break from 5:25-7:00pm. No racing going on....although they are SM's....so they're always racin', wooo!

Then you need to change your beliefs. No secret the drivers and crew that gather in T5 at Road America for the SM race are there with sheepish grins on their faces. Although to be honest, the last few years have been pretty clean.

Topeka just contacted me and asked what day the Prod party was going to be on. Any decisions yet? Will pass it on when you do.

As for SM.... No particularly bad feelings toward the group.. last 3 students were SM drivers... but you should have seen the bent race cars after their two races this weekend at Daytona. A good chunk of them were tuning for the Runoffs. Now they are tuning sheet metal.

Bob,
Topeka hasn't particularly cared when the party was in the past......I'm guessing they're just trying to make sure they don't step on our effort. I lost your number.....can you call me tonight (517.575.9450) so I can get some details?

I've heard nobody else make a suggestion other than Tuesday.....so I'm thinking it's Wednesday. I've chatted with Zekert......he's hosting (among others) and he's OK with it.

Dayle... They are just getting a list of who's doing what so they can plan some of their own activities and not conflict with anyone else's. Got a call back message on your phone. Will be conscious for about 30 more minutes.

Anyone know what night the Mazda party is on? I know a few of us will want to go to that as well. I believe it was on Wednesday last year.

Conflict with Mazda party doesn't seem like a good idea. Avoiding SM practice might work if party goes on awhile. Workers can come early and eat, we can watch and all can return for beer. Monday doesn't make sense to me, but may be best time. just thoughts.

I do know that the Dawson's are cooking for the AS party on Wednesday so if they are being used for catering then Wednesday would not be a good night. I vote for Tuesday.

I agree.....going up against the Mazda gig would be detrimental. Can a Mazda person corroborate what night their gig will be held. I don't want to go on "I heard....".

At this point, we don't know if Chuck is cooking or just delivering goods for our party. Unless we find a sponsor and/or get SERIOUS donations, we're cooking the food ourselves. That'll save us a bunch of money which can all be passed on to the worker corps. If we want the Dawson's to cook (and who doesn't), then we'd better start ponying up some more donations, folks.

I'll be glad to make Tuesday the date......IF we get some more donations and get confirmation that Mazda is Wednesday. Let's play NPR Pledge Drive Week......we need $500 by Sunday night to make sure this party is scheduled for Tuesday night. Let the donations start coming. PayPal them to me at [email protected].
