I'm betting there's two sides to this story as usual so everyone might want to put the pitch forks down.

I've never had a problem with Ken Patterson and find him to be a great guy in my experience.

I agree 100%. While more than a little frustrated by the lack of official communication, I am more than willing to wait for the whole story from all sides before placing blame.

NOW the dbl Nat is up for grabs to another region... RE's expect a conference call...

We had 100% of the chiefs & Green light on the track. Canceled why?

What Lisa and Ken are giving us in info makes no sense.

Dam It, Jesse, you bring calm logic into this issues and I just sent the pitch fork out for new surgical stainless steel tines....LOL

I agree that some information is not being said publicly and we are not hearing everything. I have not been happy with the lack of official communication from the NR RE/BoG. But I do find it interesting that some people were saying they knew the event was not going to happen at MPH long before the track inspection and even before MAM was officially evacuated and shut down.

Ron, we have received very little addressing the issues... The letter George posted links to, was about it... Its not close to being over or resolved, Some one above me is either leaving out key bits of info or this is completely unbelievable...
For have in elected officials, it sure don't seam like a democracy..

Jesse, I hope I will need to issue an apology to Ken.
How Bad was Dillon Dexter's SM? Zane & Dillon are very Good friends, Make it faster too!

From what I understand a Division Executives Stewards ruling can be over turned by the National Chariman of Stewards, which I think is David Nokes.

I also think this could be brought to the SCCA Court of Appeals (COA).

Latest News off the NRSCCA Forums

Greetings all,

Just getting a chance to catch up on the forums. It's been a very busy week for us in Nebraska Region as you can probably guess.

I'd like to ask that everyone keep an even keel on this issue. I don't believe the discussion is over and very high level discussions are going on with Ken, Lisa, and Jeff Dahnert and will very soon include David Nokes and possibly the Chairman of the Board, Jerry Wannarka.

I can also tell you that I have been in contact today with a number of people on race committees and RE's from around the division who support us having this event at MPH.

I don't know where this is all going to lead yet, but again, I ask for your patience and civility in any discussions on the forums. We must all work together for this event to happen. We are doing everything in our power to not let down the drivers and workers in our division as well as surrounding divisions who have planned on attending this event.

Thank you for your understanding.

I need two more races for my license but I am not competing in the Runoffs this year. Due to job trips and other activities, I am really limited on my open weekends in Aug so changing the date or a major location change will effect me.

I know Tim White (AS) from Omaha was planning on going to the Runoffs and needs these two races.

Keith, thanks for your help.

^^I'm in the same boat.

I know the focus is on the Nationals issue but, (hope I'm not out of line here) being an IT driver I'd like a crack at the championship. Having a double National/IT would help a lot of us.

Re: Update on Nebraska Region August 20th, 21st Double National Club Racing event at MAM

As some of you know this event was canceled by Mid-America Motorplex track management on July 7th. Efforts were made by the Region to move the event to Motorsport Park Hastings or Heartland Park Topeka.

Mother Nature threw us a curve ball in flooding MAM, giving Nebraska Region a very short time to react. Following much work and effort by all involved, it was decided on Tuesday by Ken Patterson and myself, that the August event at MHP could not go forward due to operational and staffing issues. Accolades should go to all involved in trying to make this happen for our Division’s drivers.

There is some good news here;

• The track was inspected by one of the Club’s top inspectors and the good news from that inspection is that the track surface is approved for competition. So it is my hope that we can help Nebraska Region go forward in developing a strong race program for the future.

• To that end, I’d like to request that Nebraska Region’s Race Committee, Ken Patterson and DA of Race Chairs, Monica Shaw form a task force to help the Region develop their program and to resolve the operational issues at MPH.

• Terry Ozment, VP of Club Racing, will be talking with the Motorsport Park Hastings track management to let them know we value their partnership with our Club Racing program.

So what happens next? It might be possible for a race group or Region with an already built in worker force to take a look at holding a late August event at HPT or HMRC. In order to discuss this and other possible options, Neil Cox, Executive Committee Chairman will be holding an Executive Committee conference call. He will contact the Regional Executives with that information. We have a very small window of opportunity here in order to be fair in giving our workers and drivers enough notification.

What if the event does not happen? I will take a request to the Board of Directors asking for a waiver of 2 events for Runoffs participation requirements for all MiDiv drivers. Additionally, I will work with the National Staff, Ken Patterson and our DA of Driver Licensing to insure our drivers who are counting on these races for license renewal requirements are accommodated.

Ken Patterson will be working with Nebraska Region and the National Staff to get correct notification out to our drivers as soon as possible.

“ ….. not go forward due to operational and staffing issues ….. form a task force to help the Region develop their program and to resolve the operational issues at MPH ….. “ ….. The Nebraska Region racing program at both MAM and MPH has been very successful – Regional and Nationals at MAM – Regionals at MPH – difficult to find more dedicated and competent individuals – always giving so much of themselves – many with years of volunteering at the Runoffs – I remember so vividly the races at Hutchinson, Kansas – an example how people can make a race go in the middle of a WWII Naval airstrip with no infrastructure – so some of these same people should be OK and just fine at MPH with all its preexisting facility – Nebraska Region members have been there and done that ….. time to just let things happen

I am still holding on to hope that "logic" will still prevail and this event will still be allowed to happen at MPH.

I know it's the compete other side of the region, but Memphis has been inspected and the last I heard had lots of open dates. Any word from St. Louis? With only 4 in-division races, most of us have no chance of meeting minimum requirements for the runoffs unless this double national goes forward.

"operational and staffing issues"
"form a task force"
"we value their partnership"
"Executive Committee Chairman will be holding an Executive Committee conference call"

It sounds like dedicated members of car club were going to make a race happen and were thwarted by corporate bureaucracy. What a shame.

A long story ….. 1966 and I needed a sponsor to join SCCA – a close friend, Richard Ryan, was the mechanic for a EP Porsche Speedster racer Donald McIntosh – Don was fighting cancer and in the hospital at Viroqua – he said I would be the first he sponsored and the most likely the last ….. when I began racing in earnest in the early 1990s I contacted Don’s son David just to tell me I had achieved the dream his father had inspired within me – taking a Healey up the hill to the checkered flag at the June Sprints – something I had seen his father do on several very exciting occasions once dueling with Donna Mae Minns DP Yenko for the entire race – David had moved permanently to South Africa but remained very interested in racing and only got back to the US once a year to golf not far from where he had grown up – while following the races in South Africa David came across an American who was there for some Volkswagen competitions – amazing how racers can make it happen almost anywhere when they put their mind to it – such a small world at times – that racer was Bill Noble ….

Subject: August 20-21 race at MAM

Fellow SCCA Members,

As some of you may know, the August Double National/IT Tour event at MAM has been cancelled due to the terrible flooding of the Missouri River . Since being advised on July 7 by MAM that the event could not go forward, there has been a great deal of behind-the-scenes work to hold the event at Motorsport Park Hastings (MPH), or relocate to another facility for the event. Much of this effort has involved the RE and Race Chair of Nebraska Region

There is a group of dedicated SCCA members working towards meeting the requirements needed to hold the event at Motorsport Park Hastings. If we can’t make it happen at MPH, we will be looking at options for holding the race at other tracks such as Hallett or Heartland Park Topeka (a conference call is scheduled for Sunday, July 24th with the REs of MidDiv).

We will have answers to you as soon as possible, hopefully by Wednesday of next week. I have high hopes that we will be able to have this race in order to provide a safe, fair and fun weekend of racing in August to close out our Division’s national racing season.

Yours For The Sport,

Lisa Noble

I know its in good hands Jesse! Do ya need your house painted? part time clean up guy? Lawn Mowed or even sod installed? Dillon Can Help! I think Dillon may be paying Zane back for a long time... LOL... Mistakes happen, Dillon feels worse than his dad... I did hear something about the wall helping Neg camber...

Found this on the DMVR forum:

The conference call for RE's of MIDIV voted to support moving the NE Region MAM event to Hastings. It sounds like NE Region will be able to work out the needed changes needed at that track before the event is to be held.
