Lap Record Archive - New

I ran a 1:22:9 this past Sunday. I was told they changed the infield a little from last year and there has been a few records broken, but mine was the only one in prod. I had a nice little STU Lotus Exige to chase for the overall win. I didn't get him, but it provided a nice carrot.

The slight change was from 06 so you broke the lap record heads up, great drive!!

I dug the Civic out for the MSR Houston Labor Day Three Way and did OK. We set the CW track record down to 1:50.318. It was 93f and 100% humidity.

First National at Barber last weekend, led to a couple of new Prod records:
New Track Record (1:43.741) for FP by Kevin Ruck
New Track Record (1:49.135) for HP by Tim Pitts

Hope they keep running nationals there, because that was probaby the most amazing facility I've ever been to.

Updated 9-7-2012 for Barber, Charlotte, Eagles, and MSR (CW)

Has the Sebring TR been updated since the T 1 change?

What was the date of the T1 change?

The long course records are dated Jan 2011 (FP, HP) and Jan 2012 (EP). The short course records are all dated Oct 2008.

I wouldn't consider what they did at turn one a track change. All they did was extend the pit wall out longer from where it previously ended. Basically the right side wall is longer and goes into an area that a lot of us used to swing over towards (into?) pit out to get a wider entry into one.
The track length (if it's measured from the center of the actual track) never changed, nor did the turn radius of turn one.

The T 1 turn entry is about 6-8 ft closer to the apex, slowing the turn entry speed and thus the exit speed . We are around 4-5 MPH slower at the entry now VS prior.
The speed loss is carried from T 1,turn in, to T3 turn in. About 1sec or maybe a little more.
The change was made just post 12hr, maybe just before. The first time I ran it was PBOC , whatever that date was.
I have nearly 8000 miles there over the years, been fun and not so fun to watch the changes.

I do think that this should require new track records.

For some reason Watkins Glen lists me as having the H Prod long course lap record even though it is a tick slower than the previous time. The tracks sometimes do this when the timing and scoring point has been changed. A similar thing happened at NHMS. I don't know whether this in fact happened, but I will leave it up to you as to whether you want to correct the spread sheet or not. Following is the line items from the file on the W.G. web site:

LONG COURSE WITH LOOP (3.400 miles)
CLASS LAPTIME SPEED DRIVER MARQUE DATE

EP 2:10.171 94.030 Rick Kavitski Miata 7/9/2011

FP 2:10.703 93.647 Kevin Ruck Integra 7/9/2011

GP 2:16.919 89.396 Mark Dennis Nissan 510 7/9/2006

HP 2:17.635 88.931 Ron Bartell MG Midget 7/12/2009

It's interesting that the entry radius change would increase the times that much. We made some pitwall changes for Champ Car and reduced the exit radius on turn 17. It in effect shortened the track and lap times dropped instead of going up because of the speed drop. Had to get my spreadsheet out and worked out the radius/distance/friction to prove what we saw was correct.
