KVRG - Double Majors Invitational - HPT July 14-15

Here is the Prod Group 1 as of this morning. The prod group is currently the largest run group with small formula running right at 16 racers. I had to pull out because the engine was not ready and work overlap issues.

And, just one production driver from out of division willing to make the trek. Seems like maybe the Majors Invitational format isn't working so well in MiDiv.

Hope to see some of you there,

The Majors wasn't the deciding factor for me. I would love to make it, but, I don't care for all these events rammed together in two week intervals.

I was considering thrashing and going, but have an issue to resolve and won't have parts in time anyway... which is why I prefer my events spread out about a month apart.

Trust me, I wish I was making the tow. Instead I'll see folks at MPH in August.

I've got to tell you that I feel a little like, "F U, you're definitely not important, and we don't need you". I asked the KVRG race group to allow my GTL entry, as I need another National, (St. Louis cancelled their national) and HPT is close to my home. The KVRG race group said "no" due to contractual arrangements with SCCA National.

So the Majors looks like a lot of fun having special parties for E/F/HProd. Looks cool to me. [I usually make one HPT race each year.]

Looking today (10 July 2012) there are 3 Formula Fords; 3 Formula Mazdas; 3 Spec Maitas; 2 STUs. Those number don't look to Major to me.

But, today there are 9 SRFs and 10 Formula 500s.

Is having a few really great race events for some worth what we're telling the rest of the classes?? Is SCCA National Racing program so strong that we should be telling some people to f-off?

Peter

Add one to H if I can get the car back together Thursday; engine, transmission with new clutch setup. Only have one day to make it work so wish me luck.

Peter, you got the chance to run your own event in May I believe it was at HPT in GTL. There were zero GTL's there that weekend. This weekend is for the other 10 groups as we didn't get to run that weekend. That last weekend was for the other 18 groups. Simple.

So Jesse, if I was to paraphrase, you're saying that both of the events were failures and that's the idea.

This culture of exclusion is not what the club is supposed to be about.

Including GTL in the small bore race is good for everyone, bad for no one.

I like the run group at the regular mid div races over the majors run group. Running with ep is always a bit sketchy.

But I'm going to be there. Hopefully early enough to he a nice paddock spot for the motorhome. Shouldn't be too bad is it looks like less than 70 cars.

Kyle, I would never venture into a discussion like this on this site. Been there, done that. I was just explaining why GTL isn't part of this weekend in case Peter didn't understand.
I'm not a big fan of the majors program but want to go racing, so that's what I'll do. Go racing. You guys have a problem in GTL and it isn't because of this program, it's because of the SIR's and how they don't work at the sizes you guys have to run at plus the balance with the unrestricted cars, what a mess.

The SIR's seem to work much better at sizes bigger than 30mm and predictive power can be used quite effectively. You'd be better off with chokes and weight. Just my opinion.

Anyway, looking forward to 10 plus EP cars this weekend!

Just a warning, I'll be in my ITB car disquised as an HP car so that I can race. This majors program has screwed up the MiDiv race schedule quite a bit.

This is the other side of this program as well. We used to include IT in all of our weekends and it was always one of the best race groups, but now they're much more limited on the weekends they run at. I like the double national/rational weekends but think we should also include the IT group. In Midiv we really need them to help with car count and like I said above, they put on a great show.

+1 :applause:

I knew I wouldn't like all these events scheduled two weeks apart - but MAN does it suck missing this event.

THings have changed a bit here. I finally sold my house so I have a lot of work to get done and get out of by Aug 15th. I'm not making this weekend.

hopefully the runoffs isn't out

Looks like it is working a bit better in MidDiv than in RMDiv

We just had to cancel the 'Showcase" Majors event at PPIR for the other 18 classes due to small turnout - only 3 entries just 5 days before registration was to close -adding the 10 other classes plus regional classes along with PDX and Club Trials couldn't carry it.
