The ITEZ rules should parallel the most current Champcar rules.
1.0 Basic car eligibility; If the car has a Champcar, WRL , lemons or Luckydog, logbook , it is eligible.
1.1 If the car fits the Champcar rules, it is eligible. Entrant must bring supporting data if no logbook exist. .
Note that Champcar has no engine size limits . Nor minimum weights. Champcar rules require stock suspension pickup points.
No car is listed with over 300HP for Champcar .

1.2 Homologated TC, cars are eligible as long as the safety items are current . These cars may run with windows in place .
1.3 SCCA IT cars are eligible . Dash bars and fire systemsrecommended .

1.4 The defining rule for this class is that any 200TW or above tires are allowed.

Basic safety;

2.0 Cars must be SCCA and/ or Champcar log booked . A Champcar log book is not required. A car may be built to SCCA ITEZ rules, as long as the car is listed as eligible for Champcar .
Any IT legal SCCA car fits the basic rules. Spec Miata with 200TW tires fits .
2.1 Cage rules must at least meet SCCA rules. Champcar rules are more stringent in the area of sill plates and anti punch through protection. These additions are allowed . Champcar requires a dash bar.
Tubes may run to the strut towers. The car must retain the stock crush zones and be based on a stock production shell. No tube frames.
.
Belts, Window nets and /or arm restraints per SCCA rules for IT .

2.2 Fire systems are suggested . All cars with a modified fuel system( fuel cell) must also have a fire system meeting SCCA rules. Max cell size is 22 gal . Stock plus 2 gallons.
2.3 Stock fuel system cars with the fuel tank within the 4 tire footprint( IE behind the seat) , may use a fire bottle .
2.4 Champcar requires the master cutoff switch to be within driver's reach. That is allowed with a suggestion of an external pull " off" cable .

3.0 Champcar aero rules allow wing supports /tip plates, airfoil , 12in above the roof and inside of the tire edges.
Splitters are max 6 in proud of the nose bodywork . And inside of the tire edges . Undertrays etc allowed.
3.1 The bodywork must cover the top 25% of the tire when viewed from above. Per Champcar. Flares are allowed . No carbon bodywork.
3.2 Bodywork may be cut away, added for airscoops, driver cooling, etc. 60% of the original body must remain . (per Champcar)
3.3. All cars must start each session with 2 brake lights at the minimum, with tail lights as needed . Up to 4 headlights are allowed for night races.
  • 3.4 Night race rules may allow or require the lighting circuit to be wired hot at all times.
4.0 Exhaust must have an effective muffler aiming for 95DB or less. Exhaust must end at least behind the main cage hoop and at the edge of the car .

5.0 Brakes are unrestricted .

6.0 Wheels and tires are unrestricted as long as they fit inside the fenders per above note for flares.

7.0 Revisions may be made at any time including some sort of classing structure as needed.

Edited; The TCR and GT4 cars that run WRL etc. are too fast and have been removed from this version. The TC cars may be discontinued from SRO and IMSA, either for old age or class reduction, fall inside the performance envelope at their 200 HP or so. At least at full weight.

letter # 37277 to CRB. Intent is to homogenize the Regional level Champcar/Lemons cars allowed into SCCA. The Divisions often have there own rule set, , sometimes not . ITEZ getting listed in the GCR might add some racers that peruse the rules , looking for a place to race.
Summery; any safe production based car on 200TW tires fits.
All of the other sanctions require fire systems. SCCA does not at the IT level .
