Time to say goodbye to the Prod Forum

All, I think it’s time to put the old girl out to pasture. Only a very few people post here and most of them are not even prod racers any longer.

There are FB forums for prod discussions as well as other, more active boards with actual racers.

I’d love it if some front runners decided to start posting here, but in my view a very few members are just asking an admin or two to waste their time on this board.

As a non racer i have learned way more about the cars you race that i ever thought i would.Driver way to busy on race weekends to answer questions ..Like the race reports posted here..Angelo :)

This site is staying put, I assure you.

I have control of the domain registry; it costs me $15/yr. My friend Ron Earp has control of the Xenforo database (same as his GT40S and our ImprovedTouring.com); so far he's not asked for much money but I may hit y'all up for some maintenance and upgrades later (but it won't be a lot).

So no worries. Just make sure no one drives me into a wall on the track and we're all set.

We need this site... or one like it. FB is nothing but political garbage these days, and a lot of people are leaving it. Personally, I only use it for HP or charity stuff because it still reaches people. Otherwise, I'd be off myself.

What are the annual costs Greg?

Weird I replied but it is gone. Did an admin delete it?

Anyway. My frustration is that - next to no active racers are posting about cars or events any more. Maybe we could rename it Former Prod Forum or something 😆

Of course it’s not up to me whether the site lives on. And I hate FB too but it has triple the attendance and actual recent racers talking about prod racing.

Rock on prod Warriors.

Heck, I'll pay the domain fee. I don't have a Facebook account and don't plan to start now.

Like some others, I'm still a Prod racer, just not a super active one. I run a few MARRS races each year - MARRS has a great HP group btw, we had 12 HP cars for Labor Day last year.

Are you sure you're not at greater risk in your other role?
As long as I stay on this side of the wall...

Weird I replied but it is gone. Did an admin delete it?
No.

Social media has long replaced forums. Societal AHDH and all that. Hell, even before that, how many times did someone come into a forum and, right under the FAQ thread, post the same question again? And when they got the one answer they wanted they split, never to return? Facebook is perfect for that. It's all about me, man, I don't have time to deal with searching.

Coupled to the fact that users moved from PCs to phones, and forums never really adopted the "app ecology", and here we are...

I think of it kinda like my high school reunions: those that I wanted to stay in touch with, I did. I don't need a regular reminder.
