iphone 4s - dual cameras useful for in car videos??

The iphone 4s has 2 cameras pointing in opposite directions. Does anyone know if it is possible to simultaeously record fore and aft? If mounted mid windshield it could be great protest evidence. Can anyone tell me if it is possible with or without an add on application? It would seem to be fairly simple.

Thanks, Jay

As far as I know, you can't shoot video both directions at the same time. I wouldn't want to use my iPhone as a video camera. There are cheaper, better alternatives to capturing in car video.

Dayle,

Why not? I'm not talking about purchasing it for that reason.....just a rear view mirror that can be handy after the fact that is synced to the front view. I have this http://store.contour.com/contourroam-10 ... 4AoduB3Bng and love it....only paid $79 for it but it's only 1 view (tough to get it situated right to view the rear view mirror also) which really doesn't address the issue I'm hiliting.

Add a second mirror, $10 from PepBoys. Videos are a lot more exciting to watch, when you see someone dodging back and forth behind you.

Sandro,

Good idea but do you know the Pep Boys PN...or maybe another supplier? I looked online and found nothing as large as your mirror.

Thanks, Jay

Jay,

Sorry I don't have a part number, I just stopped at a PepBoys on the way to the track one day, and they had several to choose from. I just got the biggest one they had.

I've also been looking and recently found this setup -- dual lense video camera called the "ATC Chameleon":

Looks like the perfect solution if you are looking for dual view video -- not sure about adding any data logging, though.
