HP race at the Runoffs

My copy of SportsCar came today. I read the articles about who will win. With all due respect to Mr. Helmsley, not one word about Jay Griffin? He stormed through SEDiv and inhaled everyone along the way. Maybe we dropped the ball here and we should've mentioned him with more vigor.

I look at the entry list and I see a bunch of guys that came win this. I won't list them because I'll forget someone. We know who they are.

I know I'll get my ass handed to me but I'm looking forward to the race. Don't get me wrong, I'll try my hardest.....but I'm not nearly the driver some of these guys are. I have a descent ride with the best motor George can give me, but my skills aren't what they should be behind the wheel. But I'm still learning and hope to beat my personal best over there. All while having a good time. I expect the same from all of my fellow competitors.

So this is an open call to any and all prod/GTL folks....come on by Team Turtle's camp in Sargento South and say 'hi'. Just look for the traffic light and the WTR flag flying high over the compound. Depending on the time of day, we'll offer a cold beverage of some variety and a comfy chair.

Everyone have a safe trip there and we'll see ya soon.

I flipped through mine last night too. At first I was a little  , but then I thought, 'maybe he took a look at my Runoffs finishing record' ? Which admittedly isn't something that would make one think I could actually contend for anything.

Then again...

A dozen years ago at the Solo2 nationals, some genius decided to make two T-Shirts - one that said "SportsCar was RIGHT" and another that said "SportsCar was WRONG."
Of course, if you were seen wearing one of these self-ingratiating shirts, that meant you'd won in a prior year. Hoo Haa.

One of my buddies at the time came out with a great counter. His T-Shirt said the same "SportsCar was RIGHT" but in small letters on the back it said "somebody else won."

He made these available to many of the Colorado folks. I still have mine.

(Sportscar was wrong that year.)

OK, here's the entry list. Who do you think will be on the podium?

The pointy end of the field sure has the makings of a barn burner race.

Where's Tony Drum, and I assume that Tom Feller must be tied up with a new addition to the family.

Yes, Tom is 'tied up' with junior coming along in mid November. The other nail in the coffin was that Embridge Pipeline (yes, THAT Embridge) is putting a new oil pipeline through Chuck's yard (between the house and the workshop) the week of the Runoffs. And Chuck wanted to be there when they did that work.....rightly so with their record.

They'll be back next year.

As a roadster guy, I'd like to see Matt and Ron do battle to the checker. But I'm a realist and I suspect that Jay, Mike and Chris will be on the podium.

Have fun guys. Wish I was going to be there but I close on the new place the 14th...have to spend the next week moving all my crap over to indiana, and just found out I have to be in LA the week of the runoffs. Thanks work!

Yeah, us Fiat guys gotta stick together :)

Geaux Matt ! !

Wouldn't that cheer be more appropriate if he were racing a Renault?

Greg,

You bring up an excellent point. Allow me to clarify . . . Fiat is based in Turin a.k.a. Torino (not to be mistaken with the Ford product) which is a mere stones throw from the border with their perfumed neighbors who make Renaults (pronounced Ren ALT). Hence the commingling of languages.

The cheer may also be more apropos if the Runoffs were held at NOLA Motorsports Park. But, I’ve never been accused of being apropos.

Well, I gotta geaux now, my crawfish jambalaya is boiling over.

Adios,
L
