948 pistons

I recently purchased Mike Cummings (yes, THAT Mike Cummings) original 1962 MG Midget race car. The car hasn't been raced since 2007. I have replaced the fuel cell and plumbing, oil line plumbing, and fire system. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine, which is a 948cc block. I am having trouble finding pistons/rings for this application. The car came with Omega pistons, but Omega has no record of the piston model and cannot supply rings. Total Seal also can't provide custom rings. Does anyone have a reliable source for pistons/rings for this block? Thanks in advance. I hope to get the car running and racing later this year.

Ive been getting pistons made by JE. All I had to do was send the dimensions. I have some Omega piston sets. Tell me what your bore size is and I'll see what I've got. I might have rings also.

Mike - shoot me an email (last name dot first name at gmail). Tons of 948 stuff in my late father's shop that I need to organize and find a racing home for. Including 2 motors.

Mike. Got 4 Omega, 2.5, 14.1, pins, no rings. 8 Cosworth 2.5, 14.1, rings on 4, valve relief on other 4 without rings. All have pins but no nylon "pucks". All are used and in good condition.

Make an offer and pay the freight and they are yours. Bob

I just sent JE an order form. Do you have a copy of the last one you sent them? My email is proraly at gmail.

Bob - what is the part number on your Omega pistons? I have 2 sets, with no rings. That is part of my problem.

When you say 2.5, does that mean they are .020 oversize?

The pistons are 2.5 outside diameter. You would need to rebore to fit them. I know that's not what you wanted but that's all I've got. Could sent you a text picture quicker as I haven't figured out how to do pictures on this new site.

Moss has piston rings up to .40 over.
