WC spindle problem.

So, I purchased a pair of the Winners Circle updated racing spindles about two years ago. Tonight while assembling the front brakes I noticed that the pads would not slide in smoothly. It felt like the bottom part was interfering with the piston more than the top.
When I looked behind the rotor I saw that the caliper mounting ears were at different distances from the rotor. I suppose the spindle moved when it was welded in place.
Has anybody else found this?

Have seen it before a few times, however, I think it's just inconsistency in the casting and not the spindle being off by a few degs. Check it with a square and if you believe the shaft isn't at 90 deg to the spindle body, call WC and exchange them to avoid likely problems down the road.

FWIW - When setting up spindles for the first time, I've always had to machine off a few thousands of the inner edge of the ears so that the caliper was exactly centered on the rotor when fully tightened. I took it to a professional shop and had them chuck it up on their end mill and ensure it was perfectly level so when they milled, the ears were the same. .008 may have come off one and only .004 off the other, but they were perfectly level and centered when done.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
