While your characterization is more than a bit over the top, the 4AGE is viewed with extreme suspicion. That FAtl was able to get the performance it did out of the engine isn't an entirely irrational concern.
That isn't the only model of successful country club tracks. Autobahn, Joliet has its own racing series which was something the members wanted. They also host SCCA events, have hosted FRP in the past and probably other clubs as well.
