Is cowl induction an unfair advantage

Think I have seen tin tops add a metal partition between the trunk and rear seat back area. Also added as a fire wall, because there was no wall there! Only the seat back and a small pressed metal X brace, open to the trunk, in stock configuration! And after a crash, have seen poorly secured and trunk mounted batteries sail thru those seat back walls on their way to making a big impact on the firewall in the front passenger foot area.

It is a generational thing. When I started, pickups didn't have tonneau covers, they had small aluminum camper shells, the height of the truck cab. And 327 cubic inch motors, or one of those "new"396" motors with 2 barrel carbs. And they only came from Detroit, or maybe Dearborn. Who had ever heard of a Japanese pickup?

Are you still allowed to run stock fuel tanks?
