Registration is now open for the August 15-17 Charlotte Race weekend. We will have the test day Friday followed by a PDX Friday evening.

Saturday we will race all day with a break around 5:30 for dinner/social. Group 1 Big bore GT will race at 7:00 pm followed by a combined 45 minute CCPS/90 minute ECR under full speedway and infield lighting. We will grid on pit road for these World Challenge style and it is quite a show for drivers and fans.

Sunday you get to sleep in and we start back at Noon with the second CCPS and finish the last 5 races. Usually done by 4:00pm and on the road. Garages are available on a first come basis on the same site as registration (DLB).

In! Any other EP guys coming? I'd love to start meeting my new competitors... we'll have plenty of cold beer and we usually have a giant hunk of pig working in the smoker all weekend. Come by and say hello - Yellow and Black RX-8, #1 for the weekend since #13 is taken.

Steve - What's the test day cost?

Hello All

The region and the Charlotte Motor Speedway want to get a estimate on drivers running the Friday test day at our Daylight Into Dark weekend. Cost for the test day is $250 as it was last year. Please email [email protected] with your name and car information so we can figure out groupings. I have been asked if you can run the test if you are not racing. You can. Thanks for your help.

Track has 98 at the pump and asked what other fuel competitors might want. Give me what you guys run and I can get some drums on site. I am spoiled with the pump gas for the Mazda so not sure what is popular now. Need feedback this week to make it happen.

If I can get the Car back together I should be there. It's looking good right now.

Awesome! Swing by and say hi. We're not in the garages, but will be hard to miss. We'll have the Orange/Yellow/Black RX-8 and the brightest green four-door Honda you've ever seen in your whole life.

And beer and stuff.

Well, that was fun!

Mike had me covered pretty good both days once he got warmed up. For Saturday I qualified on EP pole and 2nd overall for the group, with Mike 3rd overall. During the race he got me on the 2nd lap I think and was inching away before developing an oil leak and falling back, then out. I then took the win unopposed.

Sunday Mike took pole, 2nd overall and just walked my dog in the race. He was getting power down better in the second half of the corners and putting enough on me in the first half of the straights that even with better aero around the banking/tri-oval I had absolutely nothing for him.

It was a good weekend, even with only having two of us in class. The new car ran every lap of every session (test day and both quals and races) and we learned a lot that will help us make it faster going forward.

Not too bad for only the second weekend out for the car. We need to get some less aggressive brake pads and work on the setup. It is currently a bit too twitchy for my style/the amount of seat time I get these days.

2004 RX-8, stock motor, ~2700lbs with driver. Data shows about 125 in the banking.
