My Wife and I are looking to go to the Monterey Car Week in 2016. We plan on taking in some of the car shows and a couple days at the track. My Wife has family in LA area and they may come up also. We are looking for B&B/Hotel options. We are also looking for suggestions of events that people think we should take in during the week.

Dates: August 15 - 21, 2016

My son and I had a great place for the Historics/Pebble week this year. It was a nice little private apartment, attached to the host home, with an incredible view, way up on a mountain across from the track. We could hear the cars from the deck. Close to everything. Booked it through AirBnB. Can't remember exact cost but it was less than half of what we would have paid for an older hotel room in town, and most of the reasonable commercial places for that week are already booked by now. If you want to send me an email I would be happy to look it up for you. [email protected]

PS. SportsCar Marketplace publishes the best guide and calendar available for that week. There is so much to do it is hard to organize without it.

Air B&B is a great option. For the Runoffs, I stayed in a hotel in Marina and that was very reasonable ($70 a night).

The peninsula offers a wide variety of things to do on the side. There's a SWEET aquarium in Monterrey. The boardwalk. There's a bunch of nice restaurants to visit. There's a place called Point Lobos (?) that's just south of Carmel that is a spectacular place to watch the ocean, seabirds, seals, etc. Carmel is ass deep in artsy fartsy if that's your bag. Neat galleries and boutiques. Head north to Santa Cruz and there's more sights. And if you like golf, there are a bunch of NICE course.....and even some you can afford (<$100 a round).

So you definitely have options.....
