Midget body shell differences?

What is the difference between a 1973 SWA Midget tub (1275 drive train) and a 1975 tub that had a 1500 drivetrain in it? Will the 1275 drivetrain bolt right into the newer tub that had the 1500 in it?
Thanks

IIRC the differences are a slight modification to the trans tunnel to allow the Marina gearbox to fit and Oh, two big honkin rails above the main chassis rails, that snake out to the front to support the bumper. These take up some of the space in the engine bay above the inner fender panels and might interfere with a DCOE or HS4 carbs, depending on the manifold.

can the "big honking rails" be cut out to let the DCOE carb fit? found what appears to be a great tub but it is, as you can guess by now, a 1500 tub. would be less expensive to buy than doing body work.

Major difference in steering column tunnel, to accommodate collapsible column.

(How many words with double letters could I have found?)

R.J,
I think the steering column change came about in the 66-74 time period.I know my 70 parts car definitely had the later style. They switched to the Triumph rack in the 72 model year, so there is a slight difference in the length of the column, but not in the mounting, before and after 72.

The collapsible coulmn body works fine with the older, sturdier steering rack. And take a look at my car some time, we shortened the collapsible column substanitally without taking the collapsibility out of it - the previous owner of my car must have looked like a sprint car driver, with the wheel just about in his armpits.

thats cause I sat in the back seat. :)

I think where the motor mounts bolt to the chassis are lower on the 1500 chassis, simple spacers would probably fix it. Got a 1500 tub laying on it's side in my garage.
