A good number of U.S. Mini racers have experienced continual problems with a popular dog box currently available. To remedy this, BWR Motorsport is in the process of having an upgraded dog box manufactured with U.S. ratios. The dog box is based upon a highly reliable kit that has been raced for years in Minis with up to 180 plus HP (KAD head). I have requested both material and manufacturing upgrades for the new gear kit to ensure this new kit is even tougher and more reliable. Features:
Material Specification: Bohler S156 Alloy - Vacuum Arc Remelt EN39C Super Alloy formerly used in F1 gear sets prior to current
highly exotic alloys being developed.
Gears and Shafts hardened to Rockwell 60 and cryogenically treated to increase substructure core strength.
Components CNC machined to exacting tolerances with low backlash on the gears.
5 Dog engagement.
Laygear supported by 3 roller bearings; 1 bearing at the 1st gear end, 2 bearings at the 4th gear or input end.
Modular alloy shift forks machined from 7075, same tensile strength as steel.
CNC high material specification pinion and 1st motion locking nuts.
Custom rolling start ratios with a useable 1st gear in tight corners.
Pricing will be determined shortly and will partially depend upon the size of the initial order.
If this is the type of dog box you would like to run in your race Mini, contact me as soon as possible. I am planning on having sets available for installation by June - July so they can be used this season. I will post more information about pricing and delivery date as it develops.
Please spread the word. I am tired of costly, inferior components failing in my race car as I imagine everyone else is.
