BFGoodrich Tires Rocky Mountain Super Tour – High Plains Raceway, June 30-July 1

Less than two weeks from now, all 29 National classes will convene on High Plains Raceway for the BFGoodrich Tires Rocky Mountain Super Tour weekend. The Double National weekend will feature Super Tour festivities on Sunday and both races will count toward Divisional, National and Majors point Championships.

The track will be open Thursday evening, June 28 for those arriving to test on Friday. To register for Friday’s track-run test day, go here: http://www.highplainsraceway.com/lapping-days.html.

There will be a pair of hosted parties over the weekend. Friday night will be “Grillin and Chillin,” with Colorado Region supplying the Brats and Dogs as well as beverages. Everyone attending is encouraged to bring a side to share. Saturday night’s BFGoodrich Tires Participant Party will have a full buffet dinner complete with peach cobbler desert. Entertainment will be provided by member Mark Zarlengo’s band Cup-a-Joe. Longtime members may remember being entertained by the band previously, making for a great party and at least one scooter being driven into a pool. Hide your keys!

As is the case with every BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour, one lucky driver attending Saturday’s party will win $500 cash!

There is a lot of buzz surrounding this event, and we expect a number of people to make the tow to experience the challenging, undulating HPR track. Full event information is here: http://www.scca.com/events/index.cfm?eid=3845. Online registration closes June 25.

Mr. Frogeye,

Go by Phil's house, put a noose around his neck and bring him with you. :)

That's a long pull from Memphis.

Curious,

How high are the "High Plains"? How big a jetting change is required for carb cars?

What top speed do the Hprod and Fprod cars have to gear for?

Thanks,

HPR is aprox 5100'. I usually went up 10 on my mains when I went to sea level so maybe the opposite would be a good place to start?

I'll use the same rear end as HPT, although in the Lotus I didn't quite get to the same top speed. It was close.

Coming from Texas last weekend at Pueblo (4600') I went down one main jet size and 2 a/c jet sizes. I may go another main smaller at HPR and see. I did however have a problem with fuel boiling, in the the 100 degree temps Sunday. That was certainly interesting. I've gotten some good suggestions on how to help that out, but it looks like the temperatures will be in the 80's.

Application here is a 48IDA on a 12a rotary, but I think one to two sizes smaller seems to be a good place to start on the main jets.

to qualify my earlier post, that was with 2 dcoe's on the 510 not with the 13b. haven't had the rotary out of the high country. That was just what I remember about where we started when we traveled to OH. We then chased the EGT's.

Rick, i only know one person who would make that haul, in either direction! I'm flying in to Denver and renting Jerry Oleason's car. We're out there ever year over the 4th week so i thought i would run this year since he's not running.

Sitting at 98 entries, with about 3 hours to go before registration closes. Shaping up for some great battles. :war:

Karl you and Ken signing up?

I just finished my air dam; I'm sure I'll be tearing it off the car and driving over it here this weekend. I don't think it's strong enough to puncture a tire.

Ken got married. So that took care of that. I just don't have the budget. Car is ready. Maybe I should rent it? BTW we are now at 103 entries.

For those travelling to the event - Highway 36, from I70 and Byers, to the HPR track itself, was closed yesterday - but has been reopened and track access is restored.

You can always check this website for a complete list of road closures. http://www.cotrip.org/home.htm

We are having a hell of a fire season out here.

Hard to believe a flat tire cause the fire. The Last Chance fire is 100% contained and is east of the track. 45,000 acres burned, thats 70 square miles.

Hell of a fire season is an understatement. Waldo fire is now burning in the Colorado Springs city limits and grew from 6200 acres Tuesday to 15,000 acres this morning with 32,000 people evacuated. This includes many of our racing family.

Region board meeting Wednesday evening
From what I have heard, our racers, their families and race cars are all safe.
No word on their homes as yet.

Bob / Jon / Bill ...

If there's anything that the race community can do for fellow racers who have suffered losses due to the wildfires, please don't hesitate to post and let us know. Our Colorado race friends have been on our minds these past few days. I wish some of the excess rain from Debby that hit Florida could be magically transported to help fight the fires!

Kelley - of course there's racers scattered all over the state - however there's three fires that are likely to affect racers:

1) The Waldo Canyon fire, near Colorado Springs (1.5 hour south of denver). This is an active fire which is probably affecting anyone living in that area.
2) The Boulder fire - which is very close to boulder, but they're doing a good job of containing it.
3) The HighPark fire, which is west of Fort Collins, 1.5 hours north of denver. My understanding is that they're about to, or already have, lifted the evacuation order.

I personally don't know anyone affected - but I'm positive the Waldo Canyon fire will have some affect on the racing community, if it hasn't already.

There's currently more than 12 fires going.
