Bell Helmet Issue

Has anyone had any issues with their matte black helmets finish getting sticky? I did a little research and this isn't a unique issue, unfortunately the helmet is out of warranty and Bell says too bad!
Its so sticky you can palm the helmet and pick it up off a table!
I would like to use the helmet for other purposes than racing, but it's pretty much unusable at this point. I will try a few different products and see if I can remove the matte black rubberized "paint" and maybe paint it.
If anyone has any suggestions to remove this stuff let me know....I'm thinking acetone or maybe alcohol. It laughed at brake cleaner!

If it is what I think it is I have had success with denatured alcohol and a lot of time.

Glad you got it off, I think the equally important part of this post is the way Bell handled the customer service (or lack thereof).
Very disappointing abandoning of a customer.
I wonder how excited you would be to buy a Bell again.

Jimmy, You are correct, I was somewhat disappointed by Bell, not so much their denying any type of warranty but not even an email. So you first have to find who owns Bell which is Racing Force Group, then you need to make an account, find your product, fill in a bunch of stuff and submit. You don't even get an email that says your submittal is pending, you get nothing. Then periodically you need to relog in to your account and see if they posted anything, in my case just a simple denial. Couldn't figure out who I should talk to or anything. I have been a loyal Bell helmet user for my entire life, it was a little bit of a disappointment especially for a product that has a known issue.

I used to also be a loyal Bell guy, but there was a season a few years back, I guess now more than a few years, that they moved factory or something and very very much didnt prepare for it, they had no helmets for a long time so I bought an Arai.
Im on my 3rd Arai now.
I figured if Bell could do something that stupid there is more stupid in the pipeline.

One of my Arai's the interior lining started to fray and deteriorate way faster than I thought it should. I wrote an email, they said send the helmet in and it came back completely relined, no questions asked.
I became a customer forever then.
