Fastrack ; 1.6 VW gets 50# less. By the same car that holds the lap record at WGI?

A couple of months ago we talked about the fastest VW on paper . I pick the twin carb 1.6 as the fastest every time . This combination can rev to 8000RPM and make good power until 7000. Non of the other VWs can do that with the stock TB and short cam . The 8000 RPM range makes only a few less HP than a decent 1.8.(@ 6200)
How did this get passed?

Meanwhile the early Honda CRX that won every race that 2 or more were entered and should get 80# or so, gets nothing ?
Top 4 cars at runoffs .
If nothing else they should get rewards weight for a year :)

Have you received your latest Sports Car magazine and read the article about Post Runoffs Process? If not, you should read it.
Cliff Notes: Changes that benefit a competitor are approved by Jan 1st. Changes that have negative impacts are pushed out 3 months.

The 1.6 VW water cooled motor is a single OHC configuration, with a 79.5mm bore and 80mm stroke. Valve sizes are 34mm intake and 31mm exhaust. Max valve life is .450"

LOL!

I thought we discussed the Hondas already. They are succeeding on prep and reliability. My showing at VIR was my own fault, not a classing anomoly. I don't know enough about the 1.6 in this trim, other than there was a fast one in the past. I don't know that I would try to add weight to it based only on rev range.

They removed weight from the Glen LR holder.
