As part of the IT to Prod transformation I'm adding forward tubes from the a-pillar bars through the firewall to the shock towers. Are you allowed to include bars from the towers forward to the frame rails at the front of the car? Rules say any number of mounting points and tie into frame/chassis, but does a roll cage tube need to directly connect to the main and/or front hoops? Not many pics of peoples engine bays to see if others are doing.

It is very common to have tubes from the tower the front frame rail.

+1....Don's correct.....a lot of prod cars incorporate that bar. Remember, the cage rules are minimums......nothing says you can't stick in an extra bar here or there.

Thanks. That's how I interpreted the rule allowance. But started worrying when I started mocking them up.

Worried Joe? Don't you have a new car coming out?

I would just be careful about how far forward you run additional structure. Adding stiffness to the strut towers is fine, just be careful about going farther forward.

In the unlikely event of a hard straight on impact, the front of the car needs to absorb some of the impact.

There was a Honda CRX that went off the left of the track, somehow circled around, and went straight into the guard rail off the right side of the track. The front of the car didn't look damaged, at least not what I could see during the full course caution.
