All:

I have an opportunity to buy a complete Electromotive TEC 3 system at a reasonable price including the computer, coils, pickups, wiring harness, etc. I see from the Electromotive Website that this is not the latest version (not surprised by that) and they now have the Tec 3 GT, Tec 3 R, etc.

Anyone know if the TEC 3 is still well supported? Additionally, is it capable of providing a CAN feed to an AIM system?

Have had 4 Electromotives, the last being an XDI that was more trouble than it was worth. When they were based in Daytona in the late '90s and through about '08 they gave good service. Next thing I knew two years ago they were in Virginia. XDI crashed for the 3rd time, I got a raft of crap from the folks I talked to and finally told them to jump in something wet and gooey and threw my unit in the trash. Better talk to them first. Two years ago they had one Tech working part time. Went and bought a Megasquirt which works fine but you can't tune it yourself without a program for your lap top. I'm presently running a purple series Electromotive as a backup to the Megaquirt with dual sensors and a switch to go from one to the other. I'm about ready to take my Advanced Distributor out of my Vintage car and put it into my full prep HP car. Good Luck if you go Electromotive.

I've been running an XDI for 4 years how, with out any issues. I also have spare ECU, coil packs, and multiple crank triggers that I've never had to use.

That's a really, really old system. I think over 15 years old.

Maybe take a look at Top End Performance (discount distributor) or give them a call.

My Tec3's crapped out on me, twice. I'm on my second Tec GT now and I think I fried the first one by not disconnecting the harness when I was welding something unrelated.

If it's super super cheap, you might try it. I'd be ready to upgrade at the first sign of troubles tho.

Tim... My first one lasted 4 years. Daytona guys fixed it right up. lasted a little over two years and it all went downhill from there.
