Going to put a HPV-1 ignition on my FP MGB. Any recommendations on an appropriate plug wire and the best boots to use?

Magnecor, 248-471-9505. Great stuff, great service. Custom builds to your specifications. Supplies boots with wire. First set a few years ago the boots would vibrate off the cap (1275 race engine vibrates even with everything balanced). Quick call and I had the next smaller size and no problems since. Run them on both cars... one with distributor, one with Electromotive XDI.

Had Magnecor make up a set of wires for my Zetec/HPV-1. Spark plug end was done by them, and the leads to the ignition module were left un-terminated. Leads were ordered long enough that I could put the ignition ends on as required. Was a bit of a pain trying to place the 90 degree boots on the ends of the wires. Very tight fit.

Bob, Dayle:

What type of conductor did you order?

The only variable offered to me was the length of each wire and whether I wanted straight or 90 degree ends for the plug (I chose straight). With 1 & 4 coming from one coil pack and 2 & 3 from the other, obviously one wire would need to be several inches longer to get to #1 plug. I measured the length of what would work, added a couple of inches for "engine shake" and called them with the numbers....a couple of days later, the wires were at my doorstep......easy, cheesy.

Magnecor has been great for years but have any of you ordered lately?? They don't take phone orders anymore and when you email them you'll be lucky to get a reply. Super disappointing. I need to find another supplier for custom wires.

That was my experience last year with a set of wires for my Nissan SR powered GTL car. But in the end it was a great product.

Rick
I recommend using the order form but also calling.

Also here is Richard Cox's e-mail address

rcoxmao@gmail.com

Now I'll likely never be able to get another set of wires!
