I have a racepak dash and like the ease of installation and software works very well, If I were going to go buy a dash I would buy the AIM unit mostly because of the number of them in use with spec Miata and SRF. That makes a lot of knowledge and spare parts at the track.

The other nice thing about the AIM is the simplicity of it all. Data and video all in one box. you start the car and drive, the thing comes on by itself and records everything without user intervention. you just get in and drive. when you get done, your data and video is all there and synched. voila. for those that like the simplicity, it's hard to beat.

I have my DL1 setup similar to the way Matt described above - I get in and start driving and it does all the recording. I believe that most of the systems can be configured that way.

Veracity Racing Data is a retailer for many different brands of data acquisition, including AiM, Race Technology, Stack, MoTeC, Autosport Labs, and Apex Pro.

We will be happy to talk data systems and help you determine what would be a good fit today and in the future (say when you want to monitor the driver inputs - throttle, steering and brakes).

Where I work we have a small army of DL1 equipment. The DAG's that use it are very quick at finding answers to the questions that come up. I think that it is familiarity with the equipment but I wouldn't shy away from DL1. That Al guy that spoke earlier was very helpful in getting everyone started and up to speed.
