I am transitioning from IT to Prod and have a decal question. Do we need to put the GCR weight on the side of the car in prod?

Yes. But I think all cars require weight on the side of the car not just prod. The gcr is very clear about it

LOL not if your class doesnt have a minimum weight...
I tried in vain explaining that to a post race impound tech inspector last year.
Pulled over to the side,,, conferences, befuddlement, finally acceptance and release.

from the GCR

D. Displaying Minimum Weight and Restrictor Size Type
Except for classes in which there is only 1 required minimum weight (e.g., ASR, FE, FS, FST, FV, SM5, SRF),
all cars shall display the correct minimum weight specified in the current GCR in a manner that is clearly
legible to the scrutineers at the scales. Cars that are run in more than one class must display the correct
minimum weight for each class so that it is clear which weight applies to each class. Any car required to run
a restrictor must display the restrictor size and type in a manner that is clearly legible to the scrutineers. If
the car also displays a minimum weight, it is recommended that the restrictor information be located near the
displayed minimum weight.

I believe IT would require a minimum weight sticker. Some regional only classes SPU/SPO maybe?

but i do believe the GCR is pretty clear about it.

I've seen cars with the GCR weight with a Dymo label maker. Clearly readable with reading glasses....

Weight on the side is required for all Prod classes. Even if it's not required, voluntarily adding it easily removes confusion and comments from impound techs that can't figure out that your spec class (SRF for example) ALL have the same dang min weight and it's not required.
Offer the poor scale operator a bone-- otherwise he'd have to spend 25 minutes looking up your class, spec line, options, etc. to figure it out.. If you stick the weight on the side of the car, it takes 15 seconds on the scale and nobody has to get into a discussion afterwards...

I wrote mine with a permanent marker on white contact paper for my Spridget. I was switching between the 1098 and 1275 and tube shocks vs stock shocks. I got fussed at about it so now I'm using 2" mail box numbers from Lowes. They're like 68 cents a piece.

I put mail box numbers on the side of my car the day before we went racing.
