I'd love to have the rear spoiler on my second gen RX-7..It makes the car look cooler! :D

I reality, Steve Eckrich has tested with and without and the factory spoiler adds enough downforce to compensate for the crappy suspension geometry in the fast sweepers where it really matters on that car. Rick Walke's STU car (with factory spoiler) is faster and better balanced through the corners than my EP car despite stickier tires. While an option, I think over 90% of the 2nd gen RX-7's came with a spoiler.

So the 944 can use one if they want to, and Joe Moser's Honda Prelude has the option of running one in the first session, then changing trunk lids and running the second session without to see which is better for that track. I'm not saying that Joe is cheating, but taking advantage of a rule just like Kip. The result is that it's not equal across the board.

So what do we need to do to have all cars on an equal base with the 944 and the Honda Prelude?

My personal opinion would be to disallow ALL rear spoilers/wings (factory installed, dealer installed, optional, etc) across the board. Prod has always been a category for mechanical grip, not aero fidgeting. If I wanted to play with aero, I would run STU/STL. To echo Steve E., need to pick it - all or nothing.
