I was there in the brand spanking new TR8. Lotsa development to do, but potential....only two months out though. Short vid here:

Mssrs. Ira and Van Steenburg were there. Kip ran Friday only and took off happy with the 944. Greg was smokin' fast, consistently running 06s and busting at least one 2:04 (track record is 2:05.5 I think).

I bet it takes a 2:03 to get the pole in October.

Yeah, wicked fast time by Greg Sunday morning. Who/what was running on Friday? That wasn't part of the NCR test, was it?
So what did the TR8 run?

EP should be an awesome race.

Heck of a fun track.

Started out in the 21s, and skipping across the wrong side of the apex curb at 17...
Made some real improvement in the next session, and did some recon laps with a driver that knows the track over lunch.
Then spent the next two sessions finding and fixing a fueling problem.
Finally started clicking on Sunday, ran well in the cooler morning session, and then just went out after lunch to get more reps on a few sections that I just wasn't fully committing to yet.
Then started packing up for the long drive home.
Ended up in the low 2:16s, with some things still to clean up.

I think the event was a little over priced, based on the pretty low attendance, but I got a lot out of it - so maybe not.

Can't wait to get back on the track in October!

They were running timing, and putting it up on race monitor, but they also showed my fastest lap at 2 seconds...

Lots of good track time. I was rusty there so I am glad I went. I have raced a lot at VIR in the past few years (12-13 weekends usually racing 2 races per day) but none this year. And last fall two events were cancelled so It had been over a year. I ran my FP as a GT3 since there was only about 9 cars in the the big bore group. Never saw a flag except the green and checker. If I went out last they could not lap me even though I was 10-12 seconds slower. THat would take them 10 laps and we did about 8. Its weird not passing a single car for 6 twenty minute sessions.

I broke in a new gearbox and scrubbed a set of tires early. THen I ran old tires and did 12's in the afternoon heat on Saturday. On the last session Sunday before lunch I ran scrubs and I did a lot of low 10's and a 9.9 times to the flag station on the back strait where I set my traqmate since that was where they were giving the checker on a test day. Always love running the fastest time of the weekend in the last lap. I was really happy with the times as it was around 80 already and humid and my engine has 45 hours on it. It no longer wants to make it to 5th gear like It used to. I think the new Engine from Jesse will fix that. Here is a video of the last lap.
