I'm very curious to see how large the turnout is going to be... have fun boys! Unfortunately, I'll be out at Long Beach this weekend instead.

Now says March 1st for VIR driver registration, but the schedule is up....

Nine run groups, with FP/HP/GTL/BS in Group 1 (which I'm thrilled about, Sunday checkered flag ~9:20am!), but EP is in Group 7 with STL and T3. They're obviously expecting a pretty huge turn out, and broke the usual EP/FP/HP/GTL/BS and T2/T3/T4/STU/STL run groups out into three groups.

And $675 entry fee, for 115 minutes of track time, spread across three days. Ouch.

Group 1 - FP HP GTL B-Spec
Group 2 - FA FB P1 P2
Group 3 - SM
Group 4 - GT1 GT2 GT3 GTX AS T1
Group 5 - SRF3
Group 6 - FC FE FE2 FM
Group 7 - EP STL T3
Group 8 - FF FV F5
Group 9 - T2 STU T4
These groups and schedule are subject to change based on subscription.

So like poof it becomes a national class. Don't we have rules about how to become a national class. Why have a rule book and process if its just ignored. What a screwed up club.

The "how, why, and what" that is GTX was laid out a few months ago in Fastrack's, and is part of the 2019 GCR. It's basically a class for "pro" FIA GT3/GT4/TCR cars, that's not currently Runoff's invited. These racecars are rapidly growing in popularity, yet they didn't have an existing SCCA class to reasonably fit into. GTX gave them that place, without taking away trophies, contingency money, or Runoffs track time from anyone else, by being forced into their class.

Also, there is no process to becoming a Runoffs eligible class, you either are one or you aren't one. However, there is one to becoming a Runoffs invited class, which GTX currently is not, and won't be eligible to become one until the 2021 Runoffs, and only if it has met the required two-year minimum 4.0 entries/Major average over the 2019 & 2020 seasons. So yes, we do have a process for this stuff in the GCR, and it's being followed. If the class ever grows enough to meet that criteria, then its reasoning to exist will by warranted. If it doesn't, then oh well.

Kevin, I did not say Runoffs eligible. I said National eligible. Keep drinking that koolaid. You are very good at that.
