Currently 342 entries (as of 6/18) for the Runoffs tune-up event. Prod & B Spec group is the second group out each day. GTL was moved to the ST group. Huffaker is racing in both FP and GTL.

EP is a very strong group with the last two Runoffs champions making the trip west. Kip Van Steenburg in a Lotus, I'm assuming a rental but don't know. Matt Reynolds in both his EP and SM Miatas. EP has 13 entries, FP at 7 and HP at 6.

In FP Huffaker is the standard. Bob Bradfield in Bruce Ackerman's Volvo is an interesting mix. That car has a 2.0L engine and weighs 2000 lbs with full prep suspension. Bernardo Martinez in his FP CRX is also an interesting dark horse. The car will be better at the Runoffs than at this event, but he can drive! Hussey back out in the Lotus for the first time. This will be a shake down for the car. Ian Green has a fast CRX, so we'll see if he can have a fast and trouble-free weekend.

HP has the defending National Champ making his first trip to the winding roads of Sonoma. The torque of that car will do him well pulling up the hills of the track. Lee Fleming has been testing the ex-Saurino MG at Sonoma and turning some very fast laps according to my sources. Stephanie Funk is making the trip west. We've had some great entries in the So Cal HP races this year, but besides Isley, only Ben Valentine will join me in the trip north. Expect the lap record to fall, especially during our Sunday race that is scheduled for approx 8:45 AM.

I was considering making the drive, to get some track time before the runoffs. I don't see myself doing that yet, but I'm going to watch the results and see whether the heavy/fast cars can run with the light/nimble cars... think Opposite of RA problem.

I'm thinking no but I'd love someone to prove me wrong.

Up to 382 entries with about a week to go. Not much change in the prod group; two new EP Rx7's of Tony Jimerson and Kurt Frietzsche. Now 7 B Spec in the group.

Here are the GTL entries, as noted before, running in the ST group:
35 - Bunbury, Paul - GT-Lite - 1995 Honda Civic - Whistler, BC
38 - Ermish, Troy - GT-Lite - 1971 Datsun 510 - Tracy, CA
46 - Harlan, Joe - GT-Lite - x Nissan 240sx - Oregon City, OR
8 - Harvey, Taz - GT-Lite - 1994 Mazda MX5 - Danville, CA
77 - Huffaker, Joe - GT-Lite - 1967 Huffaker Mini - Petaluma, CA
171 - Okell, Bill - GT-Lite - 1992 Austin Healey Sprite - Victoria, BC

Other class entries of note: 20 GT2, 10 GT3, 52 SRF and 69 SM. For the wings and things groups: 9 P1, 10 P2, 12 FC, 18 FF, 12 FA and 12 FM. With all those classes showing up, the HP group is lacking at 6.

Brian , Joe is trying to get GTL moved back into the small bore group. Most of us GTL guys don't want to run with 50+ T2/T4 cars.
If they don't change the groups ill probably rent a car to make a lap. Carbon fiber is just too expensive.

BTW you have 6 good HP cars and drivers :)

Looks like GTL has been moved back to Small Bore. WOW. Somebody actually listened and took some action. Amazing.

Too bad I have a travel/business commitment, and will have to miss this event. Also the good motor is back @ the builders after loosing a head gasket @ Seattle.

Over 400 entries, and one forecast showed the potential for a record high on Saturday, should be an interesting weekend. This will certainly be a stress test for the paddock crew.

Shocked to see such a low turnout for H. :ask:

Should be great race group with lots of well prepared cars and National and Run-off champions. Throw in 10 B-spec racers with 34 GT-light/prod cars on slicks, on a tight twisty track with record heat..... Should be fun..... wish I was there, but see you in October.

I saw on Facebook that the Paddock Marshall would be attempting to keep Motorhomes out of the paddock.

If the rumors I’m hearing are true. The “stress test” isn’t going well.
