"Jokes on you guys, I can pull the head in 30min"

In the day, Mark Weber could do an ENGINE CHANGE from HP to FP in about 30 minutes. Got it all on video.

I bet the Yaris had 4 brakes too, that's just silly

Doesn't matter- it hardly ever had more than three wheels on the ground at any given time.

My son put together my video - ran out of memory card because I recorded an hour of paddock space after Q4, but there was no significant racing after it ends.
It's not perfect, but not as bad as it felt behind the wheel to be honest. I thought I blew 13 more often than I really did.
I found myself experimenting with T7 right through the race. It seems it really wanted to be in 3.5th gear there...

Here is a video link to some of the laps of the H race. I was really lucky at the start and was able to give Jason and the Yaris some trouble early on, but once the track got greasy I lost some of my advantage and had to tip-toe through some of the corners that I earlier was able to attack. Front wheel drive helps on tracks with bad grip, and when you give up distance on the straights you end up a sitting duck. Could be worse though.

I'm not sure I'd go that far, but that was a really weird track for a FWD car. I struggled for front-end grip all week, mid-corner to off. I was also seeing very reasonable tire wear and temp build-up though, so while I would struggle on cold tires, the car actually came in pretty well and consistently ran its fastest lap times over longer runs. This showed all week in qualifying, where all of the really good RWD cars were 1-2 seconds faster than me on laps 1-3, but then I'd come in and be as fast as anyone from lap 5 on. Tuesday through Thursday I set my fastest lap on my last lap, like lap 7 or 8'ish. The same thing happened during the race. By laps 5 and 6 I was the fastest or 2nd fastest car on track, and recovered from a 7th to 11th drop at the start, to being 7th again and on the lead pack with a lot of race to go. Then the first FCY happened, which about ended any chance I had of a podium finish, as we then only got three laps before the second FCY, followed by another three laps to the finish. Three-lap shoot-outs were the absolute worst thing for me and my FWD car.

So the 5th place qualifier dive bombed the field under the brakes in turn one and knocked the 2nd place qualifier out of contention at the start?

That seemed to happen a lot over the course of the 3 days.....

Not the nicest or smartest move I've ever seen. We should expect more from the folks at the front of the pack. It's one thing to mix it up waaaay back where I am, but the front runners should have more discipline and control.

Dayle.
