Interesting video from Bob Perona's FP Miata.

GCR 6.1.1.B wrote:
DOUBLE YELLOW, DISPLAYED AT ALL STATIONS – Indicates the entire course is under yellow (full course yellow). All stations will display double yellow flags for all pace and safety car laps. SLOW DOWN, NO PASSING.

Passed me and then Linn under FCY #1.

GCR 6.5.3.D wrote:
Racing begins and passing may occur throughout the field when the green flag is displayed.

Jumped re-start #1 passed Mathis, jumped re-start #2 passed Henry.

6.11.1.A, B, & D wrote:
A. Drivers are responsible to avoid physical contact between cars on the race track.
B. Each competitor has a right to racing room, which is generally defined as sufficient space on the marked racing surface that under racing conditions, a driver can maintain control of his car in close quarters.
D. The overtaking driver is responsible for the decision to pass another car and to accomplish it safely.

Hit Henry twice, first in a straight line, then again while washing out into his door after being given ample racing room.

Many of us are guilty for having not taken action ourselves, and assuming the Stewards saw enough to handle it themselves, as no one wants to be "the bad guy" (raises hand). But one...two incidents? Ok, maybe benefit of the doubt then, as we're all trying unbelievably hard out there, and I'm not trying to burn the guy. But come on...many of us have been RFA'd/protested for much less, and this is at The Runoffs, for a podium position.

Agreed on all points Kevin. I'm sure when Sam see's this he'll regret not doing something about it.

That is shocking. It seemed like they were on top of that stuff all week, and did not hesitate to hand down penalties.

There was a lot of passiing under yellow in this race and HP.
Hingston passed Mathis in the first yelow into 1
Lin passed Hingston under yellow at 10.
The ones in Perona's video.

Jim Hardesty captured a few with his in car as well.

I don't think this is something the drivers should have to police. I don't think it should get a free pass. Too much at stake for worker and driver safety.

Especially at The Runoffs, where there's 5x as many corner workers and stewards to call these things in and deal with them, versus any other random Majors throughout the year.

At the risk of starting a fire storm, re: the TR8, yes he was slow, but he also seemed to be taking the "normal" line into the right-hander when he tangled with Matt.

I was trying hard to see in the video when Matt would have come into view in his right side mirror before the hit. It did seem like the driver was watching his mirrors throughout.

Ok, flame way, and help a "slower" driver (who hopes to make it to the Runoffs in 2019) learn how not to ruin the race for the guys at the front.

Rick

PS: I completely agree with the sentiments expressed previously that if I cannot run laps fast enough to avoid being lapped more than once during the race by the leaders I should park the car on the trailer.

Lin passed Hingston under yellow at 10..

OK, I will let you decide base on this video. https://youtu.be/c3boRt812zc at 10-13 sec the yellow is visible.

In Bill's own words:

I find this "give back" dangerous as it seems to give some people the impression I passed under yellow (and we almost had contact).
