So just because they're really popular and have oodles of entries, SM and SRF3 are robbing us of track time. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about that yet. I know it's only 2 minutes per day.....but track time is track time.....especially when I'm paying $1125 to play. Grrrrrr.........

That's fn great that they did that for sm and srf. How are we going to get f'd in EP/gtl with more than 72 cars. We get extra f'd? I'm not happy about the change. They should have just split their session like everyone else and then Friday they can have their last chance race, which is just going to be a carnage filled demo derby.

The correct answer was to split all the combined qual groups into seamless 10 min sessions.

Then do the same for sm and srf3

5 laps relatively clean in a manageable group is going to be way better then 10 laps in crowded mixed class traffic

While some are bad mouthing Spec Miata, how many of the SM cars qualifying of the group will qualify within one (1) second. My number is between twenty (20) and thirty (30) cars will qualify within one (1) second. If the same were true for a given a Production car class, do you believe there may be some off track and crumpled fiberglass? All said with a :)

10 minutes is not enough time to get a descent lap. But this is a learning moment. Next time, I think the correct answer is to ask the top 72 SM or SRF (by Majors points) to the dance....anyone that declines, ask #73....and so on. Then their class gets as much track time as any other class.....no favorites. Treat every entrant the same......we all paid the same entry fee, right?

And miss out on $55,125 of extra income? (30 SRF3 + 19 SM @ $1125) That will never happen. :D

Sure it is Dayle,

It is what was done last year at mido for most of the mixed run group classes.

There is no way you will get even one clean lap with even 60 cars on a 2.5 mile track. Unless the first car out goes 30 mph and every other car simply follows, you will catch the cars still coming out of grid on your first hot lap.

10 min gives everyone time for an out, 2 or 3 fast laps, and an in lap.

Not ideal, screws me because I am a last lap qualifier, but way better than the alternative.

In my case, AS and GT2. Total disaster waiting to happen with this many cars.

However, you are also correct, top 10 per conference, up to 60. Then invite deeper if people don't go.

In this case a split session means we will get 9 minutes. Most of us are going to have to learn the track. Call it 1:40 in EP. 4 or 5 laps. 36 minutes of total qualifying time for 1125 bucks is poor value for money. I think rather have 2 full sessions than 4 where the tires barely get to temp

Daryle Your not actually suggesting we have to qualify to get an invitation to the Runoffs are you? What would happen to this all inclusive world we live in?
