Road Atlanta Super Tour

I just read the report on the Buttonwillow Majors and thought I'd share some back ground information on the upcoming March Super Tour at Road Atlanta.

When you look at the Road Atlanta Super Tour schedule, you will see 8 groups. The National office originally wanted 9 groups and the Region wanted 7 groups. The National office would not move off 8 groups even though we have run into overtime (past 5 PM) every time we used 8 groups. We ran 7 last year and got finished at a reasonable time both Sat & Sun. And if you consider that the two biggest groups are SM and SRF3 and normally will have about 100 entries total, that leaves the rest, about 160 to 200, divided by 6. We can start up to 68 car at Road Atlanta in a group. They also required we only have F600, FF and FV alone in one group (we wanted to include FC) so that group will do well to have 18 cars vs 30 or more for the other open wheel group. Currently, there are 13 in the FF/FV/F6 group while there are 22 in the other open wheel group of which 3 are FC.

It's not always the Region controlling the schedule. BTW, we will start load in no later than noon on Wednesday ( there is a small fee to cover the extra rental fee the track charged for accessing the paddocks on Wednesday) Those who do not want early access can load in at 8 PM. We are using both paddocks so plenty of room. Thursday is a track test day. Hope to see you there.

NEDiv Majors agreed to move to 6 groups for that very reason of overage.

Of course, we don't have the volume of cars that a VIR and/or Road Atlanta Super Tour will bring.

BTW, VIR Super Tour is 9 groups. We'll see how that goes.
