A friend who knows I’m into racing sent me this link yesterday:

https://www.whmi.com/news/article/jd-ra ... motorsport

Does anyone have more background about it? Hell, I live 45 miles from this location and it’s the first I’ve heard of it.

Dayle,

I'm about 5 miles from the proposed site and this is the first time I've heard of it. It would be a great location from a gearhead point of view but may face an uphill battle with local residents. Area is rapidly becoming high end residential.

Wish the developer good luck and hope it happens.

Yeah, after reading that, I'm gonna say "Enjoy your new Luxury Boomer Condo complex..."

I thought the same thing.....Howell is becoming more and more "fancy schmancy". That piece of turf is nestled between an industrial park and I-96 so it might not be a primo residential area.

FWIW - Jordan Dick (one of the two principals mentioned in the article) ran with the Trans Am Series on Belle Isle last year.

Good luck to all involved.

There is another one in talks in Pryor, OK at the current Salina Highbanks speedway (dirt oval). Doesn't appear they've done much groundwork yet, but they had an open house last weekend and are soliciting memberships. The good news is they at least have a track there, so the worry of zoning and complaining neighbors is reduced. they also kinda sorta 'know what they're getting into' since they already operate the oval. won't be a bunch of rookies trying to figure out how to operate a race track.

Then again, a country club style track is much different business model and client base than a dirt oval.
