The health dept in Pueblo Colorado will not allow the Pueblo Motorsports Park to open before June 1 2020 due to concerns over the Covid-19 virus.
Having already postponed or canceled events, the Region wished to keep the date and race if we could find an acceptable path. Fortunately for all, the La Junta racetrack 50 miles east of Pueblo is available and open; so with approval from Topeka we have moved the race to La Junta. The date and schedule will remain the same and all those who have already entered will be transferred to the "new" race. If you cannot make the new venue, full refunds will be made. In respect for the recent loss of Bob Lazier, the race name has been changed to The Bob Lazier Memorial Grand Prix. The original description on MSReg has been updated, and there will be a lapping day offered by the track on Friday, which is also in MSReg. The La Junta track is a smaller facility then Pueblo so the paddock may get full. The track is 1.3 miles and a midrange lap time is about 1 minute. Historically the town has been very warm and welcoming and the former Hogs Breath Saloon is still open ( now Boss Hogs) and actually has great food and beverages. We are hoping they will be available and are still looking into restaurants schedules .

Decades ago I raced at LaJunta. I had a great time, (until the rod came out of the block). The town was great and had the Saturday social at the previously mentioned Hogs Breath. (I wonder if that will be possible in the current climate)? The track is fun, fast and easy to learn.

If you were scheduled for Pueblo, it's not quite as fun a track but it should be a fun event.

Hi Rob, Saturday nights are at the track nowadays. For anyone who may be coming, bring your own shade, this is/was an airport track and there is NO shade. Paddock is crumbling concrete, bring a broom. Current track management is gracious and a lot of fun.

The region ran a time trials last week at La Junta and a lot of fun was had. It was good to get back out at a track. We have been working hard preparing for this event and expect a full paddock. Race chair has two food trucks coming to cover the need for calories and I believe some of the restaurants in town will be fully open. We still need a few more F&C folks so if you can help please consider it. We hope to open registration and express tech earlier Friday afternoon to spread folks out. If you have Registered, Paid, no changes and have a annual wavier (and a mask) we will have an express Reg position where you show up and you will be handed a wrist band and you can head off to express tech. Hope to see you there.

Looks like Boss Hogs and the Copper Kitchen will be open for take out only. Race Super Chief Michelle has two food trucks coming for the event. One to do breakfast and lunch and one to do dinner. Still working on Friday night options. Will add more information as we get it figured out.
