Anybody using a Zamp helmet? Asked about them by a friend,,, Jeggs and Summit carry with SA2015 designation and slightly less expensive than similar Bell offerings. Have seen Zamp described as the European Bell helmet.
Thoughts
Thanks

I've heard stories of them arriving cracked and looking cheap from co-workers that autocross.

My two cents... it's your head. Buy the quality brand. Saving $100 isn't worth it.

You only have 1 head. Don't go cheap on protection for it.

Chuck Mathis has one. He recommended it to me since you can have several air flow options and the built in ear muffs. I tried one on and it wasn't comfortable for my head. Too tight on my cheek bones.
You could just order one to try on and return if it won't work for you. If you have Amazon Prime, it won't cost you a thing.

They're on the better side of the inexpensive helmets, but I wouldn't place them higher than a Bell or Simpson.

I use a Zamp. No issues with build quality. Of course as with all helmets fit is important. I found I had to swap out some of the padding for different sizes to get it feeling right. Zamp was really flexible on helping me get the right stuff to get comfortable.

Interesting as I need a new helmet myself.

I've heard nothing but good about Zamp helmets when I asked. Obviously YMMV.

Sparco used to offer a 10% discount to SCCA members - I know I bought something from OGRacing a few years ago and got it.

Don't see it on SCCA's website at the moment. I'll give Rick Harris a ping.

...and Rick says that he doesn't see it under member benefits either...

...and he also mentioned that Snell hasn't sent any new expirations, meaning the 2010s' are still legal (for now).

The 2020 specifications are not slated to come out until Oct, 2020. It will take some time for new helmet models to pass this and be introduced to the market. I'd guess that 2010 models will still be allowed next year as well.
