I think that it is time to start talking about a Prod/GTL party for the Runoffs this year. When the event was at Laguna Seca in 2014 we had a nice gathering that helped get some funds for the workers that supported the event. I hope that we could do something like that again this year. The first thing is what would we like to do? Do we want a full BBQ as has been done in the past or a scaled back gathering as was done at Indy last year. Keep in mind that the bigger the party the more help will be required. I can coordinate things but will need help to make it happen.

Let’s get the discussion going so we can show our support for the workers and have a good time.

I'll volunteer as well. Let's pick a date ASAP so we can all plan around it.

I'd be up for the more laid-back meet and greet beer/snacks deal... but will happily help with whatever.

Depending on day, I may be in.

Now that the first day registration rush is over let’s talk more about the Prod/GTL party. The question about what day we want to have the party has been asked. My first pass on this is on Tuesday. There are currently no conflicting activates on that day. All of our classes will be off the track, as they will be all week. This gives us time to get all the details arranged to give out the gifts to the workers. What does everybody think of that? Are there other suggestions?
I have had only one person make a suggestion for the format of the party. That is for a simpler event with beer, snacks and a good time had by all. Is that what we want? I will be making a big batch of chili as I have for the last several years. I would suggest that if you are staying at the track and can throw something together to add to the festivities in the way of food it would be a big help. As far as the adult consumables if everybody brings some of whatever they like, plus a little extra that is a good start. If any of the local people have a connection with a local supplier that is another option.
Let’s keep the conversation going.

Hi Mike,

I'll be there and happy to help out... really no preference on type of party but will bring something decent (substantial) to eat and some beer/wine etc. Being in the "wine Country" how bad can it be?

Good to hear from you Neil. WE can use the help. Maybe by the race we will have blue sky's instead of brown.

I’m in, matters not whether we have lots of food. Tuesday night will be best I think.

I would not lock in a day until you see if/when events like the welcome party/Mazda/Honda take place.

Jason,
That is a good point. I haven't seen anything about a welcome party or any of the other possible events you mentioned. With only 2 days open, unless we what to consider adding Monday night to the list it may be rather tight. There is nothing solid planned yet. If anybody hears about other plans let me know.
