Hello,
I am looking for an expert in diagnosing issues with the Detroit Diesel DDEC 2 ecu that ran the DD 60 series engines in semi trucks from 1989-1992. I am looking for a working Pro-Link diagnostic tool (to buy or borrow). That age truck had the rectangular 12 pin connector that looked identical to the GM plugs of it's time.

On my adventure day yesterday I found that the Kenworth and Freightliner dealers don't work on these DDEC 2 any more because of their age, and convert them to the later DDEC 4 unit. The 4th generation units can be diagnosed almost any truck shop or roadside travel center.

I am also looking for advice on doing the DDEC 2 to DDEC 4 conversion myself. [Should I even attempt it?]

Any Detroit Diesel 60 series experts among us??

[Limp mode gave me about 60% power and I managed to make it home.]

Thank you,
Peter in St. Louis
