Hi Guys remember me? I still lurk here occasionally. I have a friend that sent me the below note. Hoping that someone here might be able to help.

Guyzz,

I have a friend who owns 2 Yenko Stingers
and is now looking for an original 1966 SCCA
Production Car Specifications book to go with these cars.

A few years ago, he brought the Stinger that was raced on the
West Coast to our old timers picnic. The other is one of only
4 or 5 Stage III Stingers that were made for the street.

I have one of the '66 "Specification" books, but still want to keep it.

By any chance do you know of one or have one that may be available,
as he is interested in purchasing one.

Please let me know,
R

BTW I'll be racing in SCCA majors this year in the STU class with a Mazda. Stop in and say hi.

John, it was great chatting at the Runoffs. Message Mark Coffin, his father Bob had a Yenko Stinger and back in the day 1996, Jon Brakke had a Yenko Stinger.

Hi John,

Could you give me your friends contact or give him my contact? I didn't know there was an original Stage 3 car on the West Coast. You are right that there were only 4 or 5 total Stingers, of the original 100 homoloation specials, that were delivered in that Stage. I would be curious if his is one I sold 15-20 years ago to the Chicago area and then lost track of? I do regularly drive YS003, an original Stage 3 car on the street.

Bob Coffin is a good referral David and he still has a Stinger however Brakke's GT3 wonder (maybe the most developed Vair ever) started life as a 66 Monza.

I haven't talked to the guy in about 15 years so this is a long shot, but Mike Phillips @ Commercial Electronics/ Classics Restoration in Broken Arrow, OK used to own a Yenko and had a collection of concours-level Corvairs. Zero clue of it's heritage other than I was told "It's a real Yenko" and it was white w/ blue stripes. He used to do some vintage and SCCA Club racing at Hallett and various car shows with the Corvair collection, but I never knew him that well. Collecting and restoring Corvairs was one of his businesses/hobbies. He might be a good source of information if he's still playing with them and willing to help. Given the guy's collection, I can't imagine that he's gotten rid of everything, but it has been quite a while since I've talked to them.

If you can't find him, you might reach out to Connie at Hallett. Mike did/does the radio and PA system for the track, so she might have more current info on him.

A quick search of the building on Google Maps shows a rusted heap that used to be a Corvair van in the parking lot, so I would assume he's still doing the thing... not sure if that's worth the 2 min I spent typing it, but there's a rabbit hole you can look down if you really need it.

Where there's Yenko Stingers, there may be an original 1966 SCCA PCS. For give away or sale, who knows.

The Club used to sell copies of two previous GCRs (1964 and 1972, I think) as the 'Historic' and 'Vintage' GCRs. I just checked the website and cannot find them under Merchandise-Publications or File Downloads. AFAIK the have never sold other expired versions of the GCR
