We talked about it yesterday and decided Sebring was the secret location for 2019. Lots of pit area with lots of electrical hook ups. Hotels and restaurant galore. Just need to convince track to add safer barrier to outside of turn#17 instead of tire walls. Only negative is the 57 miles of US 27 from I-4 to the track turn off. I made over 1/2 the lights and it still took me 1.5 hours. The track takes handling and horses. Without both, you're not going to win. Mid October date is perfect.

You didn't stay on I-75 long enough ! Should had gotten off at exit 229 and gone easy toward Parrish then left onto Hwy 64 then south on US17 then left onto SR 66 and that would had gotten you almost to the doorstep of the track! Any clue when the decision will be? If Sebring is going to be chosen I will hang on to my stuff instead of going back to short track racing!

If I was a betting man, I'd expect an announcement during the national convention this coming weekend.*

(*Don't imply anything from this, cause I honestly have no idea.)

I've always wanted to try Sebring, but I'm concerned about the fillings in my teeth falling out, due to my 1000lbs+ spring rates.

Don't worry, Kevin. You and I have enough seat padding that our fillings should be safe. :ask:

I am really pulling for VIR. Beautiful facility with great race track. Track clean up crew will offer challenges as will paddocking on the grass hillside. Lot's of hotels 20 to 30 minutes at Danville, South Boston and Roxboro, NC. Plus there is the Chateau on property for those will big $$. Of course, same at Sebring. And yes, I hear the announcement will be made at Las Vegas. BTW, who's going to Vegas?

As for US 27, I had to drop our MGBGT at St Simons off 1-95 on the way back to NC so I-75 was not in the route this time. And I have had some horror traffic experiences around Tampa but that was long ago when we raced the short track at Desoto Speedway in Bradenton, Fl. Maybe that's fixed. Thanks for the tip. I may use it next month for the V8RRS race at Sebring.

BTW, the prod group at Sebring Super Tour only had 17 cars and was by far the smallest group. Homestead Majors had 30 % less entries overall than in 2017 and Sebring was about the same, a drop from 395 to around 280. I guess most people are not planning for the cross country trip in October. Who's going?

i think either sebring or vir would be great tracks to hold a runoffs. im not sure about the infrastructure of surrounding hotels for VIR and the paddock space but from a quality racing experience it's a no-brainer.
