Cracks at the base of rocker studs

Any time. Just paying forward all the help and ideas I've gotten over all these years of building and repairing cars.

Cracks at the base of rocker studs

I wouldn't weld in the stud unless everything else tried has failed. You don't have to weld all the way into the threads to repair most cases so leaving the stud in supports the welding process. If you need to weld into the thread area then plan on recutting the threads or if required put a...

Cracks at the base of rocker studs

No. I'm guessing the previous owner exceeded the torque range. We torque ours to 20 lbs using ARP lube and 25 lbs with oil. Bob

Cracks at the base of rocker studs

Had one crack on a 948 head. Left the stud in and had the best welder I've ever seen weld it up. That was 25 years ago and it's still good. Welding cast iron is not complicated but you have to know what you are doing. I've used brass to repair cast iron but it didn't seem to be proper for this...

    Dog gears

I probably shouldn't give you this information since we will be running against each other pretty soon but here is what we run behind the 1275 engines. Our Taylor transmission has 1.8, 2.1, 2.3, and 1.1 gears in front of a 3.9 rear gear. Tried a 3.7 but it slowed turn exit speeds. Use the same...

WTB: Spridget for sale in western US

SCCA sent out the requirement all the Gold Certificate cars had come up to present rules in '06. My car had the Gold Certificate so I spent $300 on tubing and changed everything out back of the front hoop. Took a week's worth of work. 3 weeks later they recinded the requirement. Haven't seen...

    April 2024 Fastrack Discussion

Question: Is the unit battery powered? I'd take suggestions from Spridget owners as to where you'd mount the unit where you can see it and not restrict forward vision. Got to wonder where you'd put it in an open wheel car. Bob Forgot to say "which battery power, car or small installed".

    March 2024 Fastrack Discussion

On our Sprites the stock brake lights have both bulb filiments going which gives a bright light. Probably going to put some LED lights on when I get a chance. Rain light is a Formula legal light fastened to the driver's seat headrest. Doesn't strobe but you're not going to miss it in rain. Tech...

    big brake spacers

I put the MGB front brakes on and don't believe it was worth the effort or money. The pad surface isn't a lot bigger and after putting on the rear Wilwood units found that that was the only improvement overall. Run the Hawk Blacks all around and they hold up well and provide great braking. Bob
