School me on oil filters.

A while back it was mentioned on another multi page thread about oil filter quality and I think the quote was "never use a Fram".

What should I use and why?

Thanks for the education.

Search for Mini Mopar oil filter study, or original Kinzie oil filter study. Not very scientific, but extremely informative. Latest version very much toned down from original, which was very damming of Fram. Suspect threat of lawsuit.

Have personally had a rubber seal fail, and a bypass valve break loose inside a canister of Fram filters.

Quality seems to be an issue with Fram.

Consider Wix for economical alternative, if you can find suitable unit for your application.

Oberg.......as long as you mount it high enough so you can open it and take a peak without making a huge mess, it’s a fabulous way to see what’s what in your motor.

Twenty years, Fram HP-1 never a problem.

Get and use nothing but Wix filters. Never had one fail.

Because they are close by I use the Wix made NAPA Gold filters, both bypass and nonbypass. No failures, no problems with the ones we cut open. Wix also makes the fuel filters for our bowl type units that NAPA sells.

I use the System-1 unit. canister type, easy to clean and inspect, and reusable.
